I am a registered social worker and psychotherapist offering in-person counselling to clients in Kenora and virtually throughout Ontario.
I have BSW and an MSW Indigenous Field of Study. I have 10 years experience working as a therapist and 42 years of my own life experiences. This time has taught me about human suffering, as well as the innate wisdom and resilience that we humans carry within ourselves.
I offer a multidisciplinary approach to therapy that includes traditional cognitives therapies, mindful self-compassion, and a variety of somatic therapies that address the body, nervous system, and spirit. I work from an attachment lens and believe that support needs to occurs in safe spaces and relationships. I will always do my best to be authentic, compassionate, respectful, non-judgemental, and provide a service that meets your individual needs. And although we can’t eliminate suffering, I can support you to ride the waves of life with more skill, awareness, and compassion.
Gratitude:
It is such an honour to walk beside people in therapy and I am truly grateful for the teachings that I receive from this work. In the words of Ram Dass, “we’re all just walking each other home”. Thank you.
Acknowledgments and Commitments:
I am grateful to live and work in Treaty 3 land, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe and Metis. I am committed to the work of decolonization and challenging systems of oppression for all people. In order to walk beside people in a good way, I am committed to consistently working to educate myself and challenge my own internal bias, privilege, and learning from my mistakes.
A little bit extra about me:
In my free time, I can be found walking / xc skiing in the beautiful Canadian Shield, cooking, reading, singing in my car, in conversation, and spending time with family and friends. I am a daughter, mother, partner for 20+ years, grateful friend, and a cat person.
